Common questions
How is difficulty calculated?
We use a public word-frequency corpus to estimate which CEFR level (A1–C2) a word fits best. Common words like "the" sit at A1; rare specialist words sit at C2.
Where do definitions come from?
We pull definitions from the open-source dictionary API at dictionaryapi.dev. For words it doesn't cover, we link out to Wiktionary.
